The Spider That Was...

I stared out the the other morning doing my prayer and worship before I began my Bible study.  As I was sitting at my desk I happened to look up and discovered a creepy crawly perched above me!  At the sight of the unwanted creature I promptly moved myself to the floor way away from the eight legged thing, kneeling is a much better posture to be in anyway.  Once I had concluded with my prayer and worship time the spider had not moved from hovering over my desk.  This would create a problem, for all my Bible study tools were laid out on my desk which was now under observation by the spider.

Therefore I had no other option but to relocate, for I was not going to let this little spider stop me from from doing my Bible study!  I carefully moved all my tools across the room were I could keep a watchful eye on the imposing creature.  I flipped open my Bible study to the appropriate day I found it was about confronting our fears!  When ever it came to posing questions about your fears I would glance at the spider.  One, to make sure it was staying on that side of the room, and two, looking my fear straight on, in more ways than one!

In this particular Bible study we are studying the book of Esther and are at the point where Esther states, "If I perish, then I perish."  So the author turned that phrase as a fill in the blank for us, to put our worst fears in the "If" part and declaration of God's promise in the "Then" part.  For example, "If ______________, Then______________"  you get the picture.  When I read that I mentally put in, "If that spider falls on me, Then the God who made this little creature will have to cut its life short.  Because I do not have the time nor the emotional wherewithal to deal with a spider on me and dance around the room screaming my head off trying to GET THAT THING OFF!

But as I continued on in my Bible study I found it quite distracting having this spider scurry about my wall back and forth.  Unfortunately for me the creepy crawly stayed right at the crease where the wall meets the ceiling.  You might as well know I am a bit vertically challenged.   So beings the fact that the wall are nine feet and myself only five one; I was not only vertically challenged but challenged in finding a way to permanently get rid of that spider! (kill it!)  Not wanting it to fall on me I was left with, well leaving it!  For only the time being, as soon as my papa got home the spider that was would be the spider that wasn't!

Well I finished my study and was now going to leave the room finally and bid the spider farewell for now, for when my papa got to it it would be farewell forever!  But when I went back to my room to get something I noticed that this thing, this eight legged thing thats only rightful place is outside, had spun a web in the corner of my room! " The nerve of it! " I thought aloud, and felt free to tell it of its impending doom that awaited it once my papa got home!  Finally, my papa got home and did away with that spider once and for all!  And the spider that was, was now the spider that wasn't!
